Welcome to the department of Computer Science, The home of Technology! The Computer Science department was founded in 2002. For fifteen years, the department has been and remains a force for innovation, research and global influence. Many of our graduates are leaders in academia, industry, government and business.
Department of Computer science of Masinde Muliro Universityy of Science and Technology is one of the promising departments in the University. We offer in-depth content in Computer Science and Information Technology that spans a wide range, from theoretical and algorithmic foundations to cutting-edge developments in ICT for Development, green technologies, security, dynamic databases and other exciting areas.
We are equal to task and dedicated to producing quality products that can take on challenging programming jobs Our Curricula reflects the demands of the Industry and the government Vision 2030 blue print of making IT the cornerstone of economic and social growth.
While other disciplines may produce graduates with more immediately relevant job-related skills, computer science department offers a comprehensive foundation that permits graduates to adapt to new technologies and new ideas, besides being job creators and innovativeness. We have dedicated staff who are equal to the task and more importantly motivated by departmental Core values. Our programmes ranges from Certificate in Information Technology to PhD in IT. This is the primary activity of the DCS, upon which success and quality of all other activities will hinge. We aim to institute a dynamic programme of aggressive research in our core areas of competence: information systems, software engineering, distributed systems and artificial intelligence, in line with national and regional priorities.

The Department of Computer Science (DCS) at the Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology is one of the most promising departments in the University and offers a wide array of research opportunities and programs of study.
Diverse Programs and Research Opportunities Part of the Faculty of Science, DCS offers programs leading to an Honours Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.), Master of Science (M.Sc.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D). Numerous forms of specialization exist within our undergraduate programs, as do industrial experience and research endeavors . Graduate students can choose from projects spanning the entire spectrum of computer science research, information technology and beyond.
Highest-quality Faculty and Students Department of computer Science is home to recognized faculty and students. Faculty in DCS have been presented with a wide variety of honours and awards over the years, have endeavor dedicated themselves in research activities leading to publication in both local and internationally recognized journals. Our alumni students, both graduate and undergraduate, excel on the national and international stages. For instance, DCS has produced a PhD graduate who is a member to International Telecommunication Union and whose research findings at his doctoral level has become to base for ITU (based in Geneva) metrication on Braadband communication .
A Great Location DCS is situated in the heart of Kakamega Town, Western kenya, and is perceived as the leading computing department in the Western region of kenya. Industrial partners include Safaricom, Microsoft, google, Computer for Schools Kenya, amongst others. Our buildings and facilities on the Masinde Muliro University of science and Technology main campus are state-of-the-art, and faculty and students have access to a library system that is well equipped too.
